Etchmiadzin is 20 kms from the Armenian capital, Yerevan, and the spiritual center for seven million Armenians throughout the world, and it has been a center of spirituality since Armenia became the first nation to adopt Christianity as a state religion in 301 AD.
The Etchmiadzin Cathedral, is the Mother Church of the Armenian Apostolic Church. The cathedral dates back to the 4th century, and is reckoned the oldest Christian cathedral in world.
