GASTRONOMIC TOUR FOR 8 DAYS/7NIGHTS

 

 

 

Day 1 Yerevan-Arrival day      

v  Arrival in Yerevan

v  Meet with our representative at the airport and be transferred to your hotel.

v   The rest of the day is yours to explore this historic cultural city.

v  Overnight in Yerevan

Day 2 Yerevan- Echmiadzin-Yerevan(40 km)

v  Breakfast at the hotel

v  Departure for Echmiadzin, the administrative and spiritual center of the Armenian Apostolic Church. Visit  the Mother Cathedral of Ejmiatsin, to the museum near the church and the monastery of Hripsime. Return to Yerevan. Visit  Vernisaj, an open-air market of handmade products.



Dish of the day: Kufta– the pride of the Armenian cuisine. The legend says that kufta was made this way:  beef meat was beaten off on flat big stone with  a wooden hammer before it transformed into a vicious homogeneous weight.  During this process, a bit water and salt are added. The meat is given a round form.

v  Overnight in Yerevan

Day 3 Yerevan –Garni-Geghard-Yerevan

v   Breakfast at the hotel

v  Departure for Garni, a summer residence of Armenian kings. Visit  the pagan temple of Garni (I century). Proceeding to the monastery complex of Geghrad (12-13 centuries), listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Yerevan. Visit  Matenadaran, a research institute of ancient manuscripts.



Dish of the day: Khashlamais made of mutton or lamb meat.  During the preparation, meat becomes softer and broth smells with aromas of fresh vegetables and greens. Onion, tomatoes, and pepper are also added in Khashlama.

v  Overnight in Yerevan

Day 4 day: Yerevan-Dilijan-Sevan-Yerevan(200 km)

v  Breakfast at the hotel

v  Departure for Dilijan called “Armenian Switzerland”. Visit the Monastery of Haghartsin (11-13 centuries), located in a very picturesque landscape. Proceeding to the Lake Sevan, the “blue pearl of Armenia”. Rest in Sevan, if it’s June-September.



Dish of the day: Trout:  Sevan is rich with fish. Trout is an ornament of Armenian cuisine, boiled or in the form of barbequed, crayfish kebab.


v  Return to the hotel

v  Overnight in Yerevan

Day 5    Yerevan-Khor-Virap- Noravanq -Yerevan(260 km)

v  Breakfast at the hotel

v  Departure for Khor Virap, located on the Armenian-Turkish border, visit  the church of St. Astvatsatsin (17th century). Proceeding to the Monastery of Noravanq, a rocky ledge of a picturesque canyon. On a way back stop in Areni for wine tasting at a local wine factory.


Dish of the day: Barbeque is one of the most famous dishes of the Armenian cuisine. Pork or mutton meat, cut in small slices, is seasoned with different spices and stored for some hours. Then it is prepared on coals on metal or wooden skewers.

Day 6  Yerevan -Ashtarak -Saghmosavanq –Oshakan-Yerevan                          

v  Breakfast at the hotel

v  Transfer to Ashtarak, Armenian Alphabet Park. Armenian letters were created in 405-406 and are still used for introducing the Armenian language in written form. It was raised by the linguist and church leader Mesrop Mashtots for the Bible to become available for Armenians and to extend the Christianity. At first  Mashtots, Alphabet consisted of 36 letters, which were completed in the Middle Ages. We will visit the grave of St. Mesrop Mashtots.

v  After we will transfer to Saghmosavank. It is a 13th-century Armenian monastic complex  located in the village of Saghmosavan in Aragatsotn Province of Armenia.Saghmosavank is situated atop the  precipitous gorge carved by the Kasakh river and rise sharply against the background of the mountains crowned by Mount Aragats.




v  Dish of the day: Tolma  Return to Yerevan, one of the famous dishes of Armenia, is a mincemeat with rice, wrapped up in vegetables: pepper, tomato, eggplant or in grape leaves.

v  Overnight in Yerevan

Day 7  Yerevan-Day at leisure                          

v  Breakfast at the hotel

v  Day at Leisure(optional Ararat Museum with degustation 10-25 USD)

v  Overnight in Yerevan

Day 8  End of the tour - Departure day                                                        

v  Breakfast at the hotel

v  Check out in a hotel with a luggage

v  Transfer to the airport for departure flight
